A Night Worth Remembering
The Central State University Foundation hosted its annual “a Night for Philanthropy”, May 3, 2019 at the Dayton Club. The program included induction ceremonies for the Sustained Philanthropist Society and 1887 Legacy Society. Alumni who were inducted included John E. Angell, Dr. Frank S. Black, Ronald E. Goldsberry, Mark Hatcher, Dr. Dave Henderson, June Moss, Larry Thomas, and Dr. Ronald Thomas. This small, dedicated group has contributed over $500,000 to support the work of the Foundation.
The Foundation’s Executive Director Dr. Veronica Watkins gave a presentation on “The Foundation and its many contributions to the Alma Mater”. The celebrity guest was Ms. Shannon LeRue. Ms. LeRue, classically trained, is a long-time member of the Dayton Opera. She has been called to sing at countless engagements across the nation and overseas. Her performance was described as breathtaking and was rewarded with a standing ovation.
The Central State University Foundation established a Night for Philanthropy circa 2007 to honor alumni and friends who have made significant contributions to the Alma Mater. The Foundation is committed to establishing a culture of philanthropy among its 16,000 alumni and friends. It is equally committed to highlighting those who give and publicly saying thank you.
